I went mildly cruising past a car show at the local moose last weekend. About 60 old farts out shining their cars and they all looked. I go to the next road over and light them up and then proceed to do a foot on the floor 4 gear standing start row…

Speaking of which, think I’ll go out here in a few for a morning rip around town..

Just think of the money we save in carpet costs alone.

I race my Duster because it's the only car I own. All others are 4x4 trucks (Daily drivers). I eventually want a dedicated Sportsman type race Duster and then a fairly stock 318 will be back in this one once more. All modifications will be mileage focused from there on in.

50 odd years ago on an edge of town blacktop. Never could afford to break anything and nothing fast enough to matter to anyone!
Cruisin is cool.

Hey!! 20 seconds?? I might have found a car on the forum our '77 van can beat :D :D (maybe)

Well, I might have fudged that time a little. That 20 seconds (slant, three-on-the-tree) needs a half mile run-up and downhill all the way to break 20 seconds. Plenty of time for coffee and a donut between shifts.

I’ve had this one to the track a few times but that was because the race car was down for a refresh

Maybe an update from today is in order. This from Lapeer Intl Dragway (the "LID" as they call themselves). A little TnT today.

What it run ??
Today was the 1st time out after switching from 4.56 to 4.10 axle. Slowed the car by about 0.2 sec to 11 52@113.5 but can now comfortably run it out the back door without spinning the motor to 6800. Setting it up for Sportsman 1/4 mile racing as it's a footbrake car. It was 90F today - DA at the track was 3780.

Next runs are to be next Saturday (weather cooperating!) In Columbus at the Mopar Nats. It will have the street ET tires and mufflers on it. With the added weight and backpressure, I'd expect it to slow down another 0.2 sec (tires are mounted on Summit look-alikes of the Weld ProStars the slicks are on but are quite a bit heavier. So heavier and you have to spin that weight too).

Anybody stop by and say hi at the Nats if you're there!!

Need a couple additional items before I take it down the track: frame connectors, and drag radials (215's won't do it).

For now I do a lot of "spirited" driving every time I go out.

I ended up going for a ride around town this afternoon. I was good, only launched the car thrice and did a full 4 gear row twice….

the fourth option isn't there that would apply to me... No I don't race my car because I am trying to make it last as long as possible without breaking anything.

My 68 dart is my only car so it's my transportation, I don't have a newer car. The dart runs, rain snow, sleet or shine and is by far the oldest car at my office parking lot.

My parents think I should get a new car and offered to buy me a new challenger but I say ...WHY. The dart runs great with its slant six and averages 18k miles a year for the past several years.

Im gonna miss being 5 miles from Pine Valley. I sneak over there on cool T&T evenings with the straight pipes and slicks on it. My neighbors hate me. I take it to cruise nights and shows to clean it... while Im there!
