When your big blocks dominate, your small blocks may almost be an afterthought. Even so, Chrysler did pretty well with the 273 and 340. The 340 was drastically underrated, and Chevy small blocks were notoriously overrated. And the last year of the 327 was 1968.
I agree with what you're saying, but don't you think that it would have made a difference in the popularity of mopars if you could've bought that new dart or duster with a 4 barrel optioned 318? I'm no mopar expert here, but wasn't the 340 a option on the duster, ie wasn't the 6 cylinder and the 318 pretty much the dominant engine in the dart and duster?
