Time to do some sketchy **** do dah do dah...hope I get away with it..... Started pulling it apart to drop engine off at DL automotive and machine shop in Caney Kansas. I know a few people used him and didn't realize he does alot for the guys that race on the dirt track there. He had a couple Mopars he was doing while I was there. He flat I told me he wouldn't be proud to build with any hyper pistons but a forged piston was fine. He asked about future plans and knows it will go better heads and intake later. Gotta get the bell housing bolts and torque converter undone. Should be out tomorrow.

Everything everyone said about removal from top and how was super easy thanks for the tips. Simpson speed shop Dart video was super helpful as well. I did this by myself home alone was not bad at all Since front end was already rebuilt I didn't wanna disturb it. Trans will get dropped off as well for rebuild less I find someone who can do it close by. Not paying 1800 when I can buy a new 727 for that off classic industries. Clean engine bay get it ready for primer pull the doors and fenders and paint. Body of car first then the lids doors and fenders.

Engine bay scrubbed and cleaned plan to strip and scrub power steering blower and wiper motor and touch up the rest where needed. A little repair behind passenger header on inner fender well. Will strip down the little rust spots coat with por 15 and course sand those little spots so paint will hold.

Found a reputable place in Tulsa to rebuild my engine.
The Plan
KB107 pistons std bore KB107KTM-STD
Comp cam K20 224-4 grind CRS XE274H-10
J Heads add 2.02 intake valves cam is a kit has the new lifters and springs and such.
Balance
Need to get an new oil pan NY East coast did a number on it little rust not chancing it and new deep trans pan.

If all goes as planned I will be way better and below my budget I was planning for. End of the day I want to drive the car and I want to be able to cruise to Tulsa and back and have fun. This is my first car and it was a starter. I have a car someday that will replace the Dart. That's an E body Plymouth of course.

While apart I can paint engine bay jams doors and car and not worry. Be ready to roll when it comes back.

KB KB107KTM-STD Keith Black KB Performance Hyper Piston and Ring Kits | Summit Racing

COMP Cams K20-224-4 COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Cam and Lifter Kits | Summit Racing
Decided to go little smaller comp cam K20 223-3 I was concerned about stall converter and I drive to work 5 miles and back top speed is 50 other than a back highway cruise 66 route I won't see alot of higher rpm I did also order the speedmaster version of air gap as well. Pistons I'm going to hold off on in case machine shop tells me I need bore block out some. The forged piston are not much more then KB I need info on what others are doing need to get out to Owasso got lots of questions. It was very dirty from the dino oil no knocking but I'm very concerned.

Got cleaned up sanded with some steel wool and painted. The master little surface rust came right off. Happy with result's so far. Engine bay cleaned up great sand and get a few spots and will paint those and be fine. It's not a show car I plan to drive this everyday I can when not to hot or raining. Cold weather as well it's got heat long as no snow or ice.

Got my HEI distributor ordered, motor mounts, transmission mount, cam kit, intake went with air gap. Holding off on pistons till I hear from builder on block condition. The cam looked a little rough by distributor could have had low oil pressure but no real indicator from gauges. I'm about tapped out fund wise for the moment. Couple months to save and by anything else needed. It will be nice

Looks killer Dude! Whoopass!
Dammit, I had my 3 spd wiper motor off when I redid the linkage, and didn't purty it up! Well, I just wanted to drive it I guess. I'll slip some paper behind there and blast it. If the gasket ain't ****-shot. That one nut is a Lil fun to work...

Exactly I cleaned it all ridiculously with simple green and the purple concentrate then I sanded those. Simply green will take off surface rust wow! Masked and painted.

This morning after sleep I will sand it all down and paint it and move on. Again not a show car but will look good.

Did one of the motor mounts last night and installed the insert. These are supposed to limit how much the engine moves. While the old looked fine it was not wise to use with power upgrades.

Got a bunch done tonight so I can get my project painted before engine arrives back I would like to have it all back together bumpers and all before I throw it back in. Got the other mount done and put someone on ignore. Fair enough not getting blasted enjoying doing what I do. Dont like what I'm doing or how I'm doing it that's fine. I just like to share and I enjoy doing it. Won't be updating the motor build or this much going forward till I'm closer to done. I guess HEI distributors are bad no matter what its no good. Well see if its bad its my money right lol.
