Hydraulic lifter preload

-
Rusty, remember the days when you had to read a service manual, or spend 5 minutes visualizing something in your head so you could understand how it worked and how to proceed with what you wanted to do? You know, exercise the brain, train yourself to be better at what your doing??
Well forget that.. Now it's pull out the "E Brain" (IPhone) from their pocked and hope it or someone else will do all the hard lifting.. Then complain when someone has the ordacity to ridicule them over it..
Are you still crying over this?

BTW I'm not some 20 year old punk..
I've restored a few mopars in my life and have spent hours and hours reading books and manuals... and when I have a situation or problem I exercise all my resources on resolving the problem..
And like a stated before, I wasn't asking how to set preload.. I was trying to get info on possible lifter clacking after engine was brought to operating temp.. could be multiple reasons...
And I did a search before I created my post if that makes you feel better..

For the guys that want to continue to give input on this thread thank you, i appreciate it.... I Got busy with the kids this week. But plan on pulling the valve covers in the next week or so to do an inspection.

To add a little more info on my specs..
It's a 68 383
Comp 1621 rockers, comp 822 lifters and comp 911 springs.
Thanks

Hey guys ..
I have a short video of engine tick I'm talking about.
This is after engine is brought to operating temperature . Upon initial start there is very little noise.
I drove the car tonight and it has no lack of power.
I hope to pull the valve covers and have a peek this weekend.
I'm running 10 w 30, I can confirm oil pressure tomorrow but pretty sure it's
10- 12 psi when warm at idle
Thanks for any advice

Hey guys
I got the drivers side valve cover off, I'm going to start with doing one bank at a time using the EOIC method, one question I have is when I release the adjuster screw should I wait a few minutes for the lifter to come back to its highest point ?( if that makes sense)
I noticed when I losend the first EX adjuster screw I had play in Push rod then I came back into garage a few minutes later and it was tight again.. so my thinking is that the lifter plunger came back to TDC.
Sorry for my ignorance.. I've been out of the game for 5 years or so..
Thanks for any advice.

I don't think those titty pics are reliable. I'd have to test them myself. There is obviously some "lifter preload" going on in those pics as well..

What's boring is seeing the same basic questions from the "spoon feeder brigade".
Lazy and Fat, that's the future of the human race..
I have the freedom to criticize their laziness, so I do.
If you don't like it, then tough titties..
Get bent.

That "ignore" button is a double edged sword.
Personally, I like to filter the information, before I discard it.. Even the biggest forum Monkeys come up with a banana now and again..

Are the rockers getting oil? they look a little dry

Thank you maybe ill contact Comp
I'm running Comp hyd lifters and a 68 RR cam.. nothing crazy.
Thanks again

Just curious............what is the total plunger travel on your Comp lifters?

Most lifters have a travel of 0.150-0.180".
None of the cam companies make their own FT lifters, they buy them from one of the very few manufacturers left....

Hughes is selling a Hy-Lift Johnson with .208 travel. Really wondering what Comp is selling.
