WOULD IT BE A SIN

-
I've got a dilapidated '67 notch I'm in process of stripping to a shell. As far as sins go, my thoughts of turning it into a straight axle nostalgia drag car are probably much more heretical. But it's not going to keep me awake, being it's better that it lives on as that than winds up in the scrap heap. At least it's not going to have an LS in it!
Definitely NOT A SIN there!.But an LS, now..... tsk, tsk, tsk..... MmmmHmm, Man oh Man.....

I personally like the clean sides on the '67, but I also really like the lights on the '68 GTS. I would say go for it, BUT get them in the right location (same as '68) or it won't look right, in my opinion. The GTS will look even better when we got the side stripe back on after the current restoration...

January 1, 1969 so all 68s would have been optional. Some 69s were optional but after 1/1/69 head rest and shoulder belts were required (front).

Alan
I think it was a year earlier for the shoulder belts.

I have a 67 barracuda. Ive owned 69s & now a 67. Ive always wanted a 68 but couldnt find one in my price range. Would it be a sin to put 68 side lights on my 67 ? I always liked the round side lights. Has anyone done it & if so did you splice them in to the front & rear park light wires ? Im still on the fence. Just hate to cut holes in rust free fenders & quarters.
YES SIDE LIGHTS ARE A SIN!!!

my thoughts. look at the fan belt and the spark plug wires and the rad hoses, tires, and shocks, if they are not the original numbers and date codes, then it is modified already. so do your thang, and drive it like you stole it!

I say do whatever you want... but.. as mentioned just be prepared for the constant barrage of questions about what year your car is and everyone telling you it's not correct.. trust me, been there, done that

Years ago, when I was in college, my '67 Barracuda became like a magnet getting hit---but never while moving, at stop signs! After the fourth dent, my buddy's father who owned a body shop found the problem: the recessed direction signals couldn't be seen from the side. He added the side blinkers from a 1968. Say what you will about whether it's kosher or not; they did the trick and they looked and still look just fine. They've been that way for thirty-plus years.

I am restoring a 68 and the marker lights are functional , I really don't like it when people say something is not original , it's my car and I will do what I please with it , if you want to pay me an obscene amount of money for it then you can do whatever you want with it, by the way from the time you are born each day you are no longer "original"

Definitely no longer "original" after society gets through with ya! Lol

Just an opinion...There's no way I would do it buuut it's not my car. I WILL say that I've got a 72 Demon and I wish 66 year old me could go back in time and kick 19 year old me's *** for some of the stupid **** I did to it that I'm trying to rectify now. At an extensive cost.

I believe there are more non-71 Dusters with a 71-stripe-kit on the roads than real 71-Dusters 340 with this option.

And there are much more 71-Cudas with billboards out now as ever have left the dealer-showrooms with this option.

...simply it just looks good...
