Finally 8.0’s

Just for the sake of discussion, i think the cam installed was probably a mild off the shelf grind. Most of those had a slight increase in lift/duration, low5's/210-216 range, but maintained a 114ish lsa to be computer friendly. Makes for good vacuum, smoother idle and a flat power curve. Nice for the street, but leaves a little on the table for the strip.

That sounds like the cam that possibly could be in the car. The owner built the car for his wife to bracket race, while he raced a I/SA Road Runner, he put together both cars. He has 6 Wally‘s for NHRA stock eliminator. So he has knowledge on building a race car. Interesting story.

Car has good stance. Nice car! Did the previous owner ever race it? Did he say what it ran for him?

Did they say what it ran for them ?

Yep, both of them said mid 13’s with a stock converter. I put a 3600 stall converter and replaced the 904 with a 727 trans and replaced the msd box, curved the distributor, and put a new carb on it and it went a full second quicker.

If you still have the 904 I would put it back in especially if it has the low gear set. 2.76 1st gear and less rotating mass puts more power to the tire. You could also borrow a set of 26" tires 235/60/15 or 275/50/15 drag radials and the car will pick up another 1/10 in the 1/4 mile.

Although the 904 was fresh rebuild, the internals broke. So I worked a deal with the trans shop to trade for a 727. I never had problems with a 727 in my 68 Road Runner, 71 340 Duster, a 69 GTS Dart wit a 383 in it. I know the 904 would be faster, I want reliability also. Changing the Tire size sounds like a great idea. And as always thank you guys for the help, that’s why I like FABO website. All suggestions from this wealth of knowledge is appreciated.

What converter was in front of the 904? Do you still have it?

it was a stock 6 cylinder converter, he believed that a stock 6 converter will stall higher than a stock 8 cylinder converter. I remember back in the day people used a Vega converter in Chevys turbo 350 and 400 for a higher stall, but they did not last long before coming apart.

Please keep us updated on your nitrous adventure. I wont be of much help as i bought one of the early Marvin Miller kits and it collected dust for years because i couldn't bring myself to use it...lol.

Only advice i can give is, if you chose throttle activation vs a button, be prepared for the 1-2 shift to come up really fast. :)

I will, I’m almost finished with the plumbing, now I can work on the electrical. And then to the track.

You are right about the 1-2 shift comes up quickly. I had a 71 Z/28 Camaro that had nitrous on it and soon as I hit the button it was time to shift.

I sold it to get this Duster, I miss it, but glad to be back with Mopar.

I just have to make under the dash neat and finish hooking up the bottle heater. And then it’s time to have fun.

It very well may be that mild of a camp shaft, I do remember that comp cams had a mild street cam shaft that was about those numbers. Do you remember what the lift was on those?

These are the type i was thinking of. Looks like .480 to .512 range...

DODGE 5.9L/360 Mopar small block Magnum COMP Cams Camshafts - 112 Lobe Separation (degrees) - 114 Lobe Separation (degrees) - Free Shipping on Orders Over $99 at Summit Racing

If indeed you do have a cam profile like these, your car runs very strong.

It’s probably close to the second cam listed, I get the best et and mph when I shift it at 5500. And the idle is mild, And that would be characteristic with a 114 degrees Lobe Center.

Kudos to 331MP. Love to see members offering help, parts for others. That's what makes this site 2nd to none in the car world.

I in the box never used and he wants about $300 for it, maybe a little less. I talked to C J carburetors in Southern California who does a lot of super stock and stock eliminator carbs and he said Damon carburetors have their own demons and he prefers a Holley. Does anybody have experience Demon carbs?

While i would prefer a DP in your situation, i'm guessing that if your HP is running well, you may just be tinkering around the margins with a DP carb for now. Meaning i'm not sure the cost/benefit of a new one is warranted.

I Have a friend that has a in the box never used 750 demon double pumper carb. and he wants about $300 for it, maybe a little less. I talked to C J carburetors in Southern California about 5 years ago who does a lot of super stock and stock eliminator carbs and he said Damon carburetors have their own demons and he prefers a Holley. Does anybody have any experience with Demon carbs? I’ve never used one before.

My nitrous installation is complete, waiting for a cool day to make some drag strip hits. At Irwindale it’s been about 100° To 104 for the last three weeks. I will let you guys know how it runs when I get to the track.

Nevermind, I looked at your carb wrong.
Base plate and a different fuel bowl. Makes it a doub pump

Hay, guys I’m going to the track this Thursday, to try out the nitrous. I made one test hit on the street, it put a smile on my face. I will let you know how it runs. Are you in Cali

Unfortunately, no. Girlfriend still recovering from shattered knee, needs me here yet.
Good luck, and great results! Have fun.
