Since no early A ('66 and earlier) ever came with a 10.5" clutch/bellhousing, you need the conversion linkage (torque shaft/Z bar) that is referred to above in order to make the later bellhousing work. It will fit and function just fine with the right parts- depending on what, if any, linkage parts you got with your trans and bellhousing. Brewer's will set you up.
