First drive after brake upgrade, then - BANG!

Coddle him all you want, but they're right. How long does it take to smoke a car over really good after you buy it? An hour? Two if you're slow? There's zero excuse for not getting familiar with a car after buying it. He might save his life or someone else's.

Having said that, IMO, the torsion bar clip popped out (IF it was ever there) and the torsion bar backed out. I just bet it's not broken. All of this is easily tended to by getting the car on jack stands on the frame rails all the way around and getting under it and actually LOOKING. We cannot do it for him, so the next best thing is our advice. We're not here to wipe his butt and tuck him in. We're here to help him with his car. We can do that if he listens.

Did you actually READ the post? "NO damage" "Nothing to photograph" The set-up, was a segue to ask TWO questions.
In reference to checking the car out thoroughly - I was literally packing bags to leave the country for two months when I saw the add. I KNEW I was going to have to do work on it, but also trusted the word of the man who sold it to me - something I'll never do again. I've been working on the car in a corner of the parking garage in my building - NOT the best location to work on a car, but I'm doing the best I can - with what I got. As for the bars popping out because the clips are missing - where did you come up w that? The clips are present, and if the bar had popped out - I think I would have seen a sign of that happening. Lastly I didn't come here for you, or anyone else to "wipe my butt and tuck me in".
