We've gotten old!! When I was young I had trouble with a 4 speed in my then 69RR about 1971. Used to balance it on the huge floor jack we had at the RADAR shop, roll it under, carefully, and then get under there and rassle it into the bell
Some have seen this, I modified a cherry picker (still can be used as an engine hoist) into a trans jack. It is ugly as hell and works like you can't believe
