Page Navigation Within A Thread

Maybe I missed it, but
At both the top and bottom of a thread, there used to be a way to navigate pages forward and backward within a thread, and the option to select one of a few pages in either direction. Now it seems I have to scroll down to the bottom of the comments, and then only have the option to go next or previous page.
The former was a lot more convenient when trying to find information, and/or skip past some childish arguments that you know go on for pages.
