It's actually a Hornet with the trunk cut off.

They made Hornet wagons.

The front sheet metal (fenders, hood, grill, doors) interchange.

I admit to being a life long Mopar guy, but I did pick up my first AMC last winter, it is just a 75 258 straight six Hornet, but it is a cool little car and there are lots of die hard cool AMC guys out there. There were some V8 Hornets factory.
I am amazed at the following now days for the Gremlin.
They are scarce for sure.
