Posting interest for an item in an ad thread first new rule???
if i see something i want i pm the seller immediately. no need to post inteerested in it in my opinion.
I had a situation where a well-known and high-count seller on FBBO listed an item I had been searching for, and I happened to see the For Sale advert within minutes of him posting it. I sent a Private Message (they were called that then) immediately expressing my willingness to buy at his full asking price, plus whatever shipping costs required.
Several members posted after I had made contact....like almost a day after.....and one of those guys eventually bought the item. After several attempts to get a response from the seller, I get a message 3 days after the item is sold, claiming he never got my message.
I think this was a case of "It's too hard to sell to a guy outside the lower 48, so I'll blow him off" :mob: It seems that being a Staff member at the time didn't have any influence over the decision, except I was able to see what he had done.
Since then I have purposely boycotted his items for sale, and actively search for mistakes he makes. He really pissed me off that much. I even tell my friends to be wary of dealing with him, and I'm not ashamed to admit that. This same guy is one of those who watches the WTB adverts, then magically has a For Sale advert pop up for the same item not long after.
There are a few shady characters selling, and I am very careful who I deal with these days. Anyone dealing with me will find the experience pleasurable and easy, and honest as well. I only wish everyone could be like that. :)
Since then if I send a PM first, I also post in the advert immediately that I have done so, and that alerts the seller/buyer, as well as everyone else.
