There are still some auto parts warehouses that have the older Chrysler V2 compressor. It was used for many years in all their car and truck lines . My 70 Newport , 70 New Yorker , 72 New Yorker , 73 D100 pickup and 77 diplomat all share that same compressor , and I have found rebulits in the $150 range. They do use different pulleys for the clutch and different brackets depending on the engine. I am retrofiiting my 68 Barracuda and 70 Valiant (eventually) with A/C. I have one compressor at the moment. When I find a source now , I'll lert you know. Here's a photo of the 70 Valiant ; just picked it up last month. 225 slant six , 3 on the tree and manual steering. A totally stipped model. Only 83,000 miles and was in the same family since new. Got it for $1200 ; a great deal!
