OK trying this again I have a Hughes Neutral balance ( No weights ) converter. I need a flex plate with the weights so I can make this work. 360 Magnum with 727 transmission. Where can I get a flex plate that would work? I don't remember if the stock flex plate had the weights or not ( which I don't have ) or is these an aftermarket plate?

Thank you for any help.

Why are you "trying this again?" You were GIVEN the correct answer. YES the Magnum flex plate has the proper weights for the matching engine. A Magnum is balanced DIFFERENTLY than an LA so you can not use LA based weighting. A 5.2 mag flex plate and a 5.9 mag flexplate are DIFFERENT so you must use one FOR a 5.9 magnum.

In your other thread, I don't believe you mentioned that you have a neutral converter

EXXXXXCUUUUUSE ME....I knew that b&m made them, AND there was an application for a magnum...didn't know they were discontinued, so shoot me......jeez.

Guys have made that mistake before, one of them was me LOL That is a problem with Jegs/ Summit/ others---they don't often properly define just what "it" fits

understood, anytime your running down a specific specialty part w/a mopar, you spend a lot of time researching from website to website to ensure you get the right part the first time.....sucks. was just trying to help, didn't know this was discussed before either.

That shows applications for 5.9L Magnum through 2003. Does not ID trannie type, so IDK about that part; the product info lists 2 Chrylser part numbers that should be of help to make sure it is for a 727.
It does show a weight on it in the pix, so is obviously not for a 5.2L.
ATP Automotive Z-332 Flexplate

yeah, funny on that page in the questions about that product one guy asks if it will fit a 904, another asks if it will fit a 5.9 magnum with a 727, it was answered yes on both accounts. I would probably call atp....

I Started it again because I felt the answers were a bit confusing and NOT clear. So my attempt was to make my question a bit more understandable. and it seems even in this thread it is still not answered as there seems to be some confusion on what works and what does not.

I have a 2001 5.9 Magnum External balanced engine, I also have a 727 Small block transmission and a Brand New Hughes Torque converter ( NO weights that I can see anywhere on the converter ). I am assuming I will need a Flexplate with some weights as this is an externally balanced engine. Can any of you Mopar guys Please tell me what flex plate will work. I was told by Mancini racing that B and M Does Not make a flex plate Anymore with external weights. NO Need to get all upset here just asking for some help.

Did you look at the atp automotive z-332? Follow the link that nm9stheham put up, it fits magnums up to 2003, externally balanced, call them and find out about your 727...

This will work also.

ATP Flexplates Z-332

I used the factory flexplate on my recent Magnum swap. You could always go to a pick and pull and get one.

I've seen two different aftermarket ones. One has the weight, the other has a cut out.

let us know what you find out
lots of combinations- too many for me to remember
you may end up getting weights and welding them on yourself
the specs for each combination are available and each weights are different as you have found out

Yep That looks like the right one it has the weight...

Thanks again everyone !

You seem to be the one getting upset. We already answered your question and it IS clear

1....An LA 360 and a Magnum 5.9 are both externally balanced BUT DIFFERENT from each other and therefore require different external weights

2...An LA converter for a 360 has weights on the converter. You need to take them off or use a known neutral converter with the magnum, and then use a weighted flex that is weighted for the Magnum 5.9

3....If you can not find a BM or other, then use the factory magnum flexplate. The only problem "should" be if you have an extra large converter (like a truck) and the flex won't fit. The flex MUST be for a 5.9 Magnum, and not a 5.2

YOU WILL NEED to elongate one hole in the 5.9 flex to fit the LA converter, and that was already shown. The original LA flex/ converter was "keyed" by using an "off" converter hole so that it only fits one way. This was obviously to locate the weights (on the converter) in the proper rotational orientation. The Magnum flex has symmetrical holes and will bolt to a magnum converter in any position. Therefore if you are going to mate an LA converter to a Magnum flex, you must elongate one hole for the "odd" converter bolt.

I was prepared to do that to mine, but when I got my new torque converter from PTC they had made it to fit the Magnum flexplate. The other thing they did is put the larger snout on the converter that fits the newer Magnum crank pilot hole. I even bought the bushing thinking I was going to need it.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this too me, this was what I was looking for in the first place.
As for the one who seemed upset You were the person who started using capital letters first in the reply. In the text world using capital letters is considered yelling, when you replied to me with you were " GIVEN the correct answer "and your reply to Hollywood Hig you replied to him with caps as well. I not mad at you I am just pointing out it makes others seem like you are mad at them. Again I thank you for your reply and it is very helpful.

Question is:

Just pulled 318 out of 1986 W-150 and replacing it with crate magnum 360 from ATK. Re-using the 727 transmission. Had it rebuilt. The transmission shop also swapped my converter for an externally balanced TQ??? Is this correct?

If you have externally balanced TQ can you use neutral Flex plate? Or does the Flex Plate have to be balanced?

Sorry for the confusion on my part.....new to this, trying to fix up my dads old truck.
