Does it count as a Barn Find if it came out of my own shed? Our 1967 Barracuda is headed out for interior and top.

This is my late FIL’s car, getting it cleaned up and moving into my big shed so I can start on it. Very straight body with no rust issues!

It is a 1954 Chevy 150 wagon. He paid $295 for it in 1969, so it has lots of sentimental value to the whole family.

That's very cool and looks to be in excellent condition!

I think pressure washing it made at least 500 mud-daubers homeless. Better news - no evidence of a mouse invasion!

Will stay stock. 235 Blue Flame inline 6 with a 3 on the tree.

It will be more reliable than any new vehicle made.

very neat!

50's suburban wagon is on my short list of projects. if I could find something just like yours I'd be hard pressed to change a thing!

First year the babbit bearings were gone, which is great! Reliable drive train, I like the '54 Chevy's, cars and truck! And I love the patina, no way would i paint it.

The ‘54 Chevy was repainted about 30 yrs ago. Within 2 yrs, little cracks appeared all over the body- anywhere they painted. Then came the light surface rust in all the small cracks. Little chunks flake off whenever it is washed.

So, the paint you see is not original and it is severely flawed. That and the entire family wants to see the nice car their dad loved so much again.

12bolt.com sells some hop ups for that motor. I think I have one of their "hump" kits that increases flow in the head. I also think I have a couple of header flanges for the head if you are building a header for it. Very reasonably priced.

What does the bumper sticker say
"I love Shamu" ?
If so wow haven't heard that whales name in a long time

My oldest nephew called the wagon Shamu and he put the sticker on it WAY back when Sea World SA first opened.

Maybe you can find the original finish underneath. I’ve seen it happen before. They wet sanded all of the new paint and found the old paint with a little patina.

Working on getting the ‘54 Chevy running. The Rochester carb was totally gummed up from alcohol gas that had evaporated. Rebuilt the carb and learned that rebuilding an old Carter B&B carb (Mopar) is much easier.

The old gas in the tank stunk like turpentine and was the color and viscosity of varnish. Berryman B-12 has really helped clean that mess.

The fuel pump was totally seized, got a new one. The fuel tank to fuel pump was plugged.

Disconnected the line from the tank. Could not blow air through it. Got Berryman B-12 in the line for a couple of days, then it blew through.

However, the pick up tube in the tank is plugged. Ran a wire down it, no luck. If the B-12 doesn’t open it up soon, I will be pulling the tank - not what I want to do.

Does anyone know if this intake line is just a tube, or does it have a filter on the end? If I pull the tank, I will pull the sending unit and probably replace it. This will give me a 3” opening to really slosh cleaner inside and try the pressure washer.

Do they not make new fuel tanks for it?

Yep. If clean up is a PITA, then it’s new one at $350 prior to shipping.
