Schumacher headers 440 in 71 Duster

You don’t know **** about me. I was the 11th person in the country to purchase 2” CPPA headers in my 69 383-s. And when Roland Osborne told me he was unaware of anyone using them with a four speed as they were made for automatic trans only, I may have been the first in the country to make them work with a homemade z bar. So I know a little about this stuff. Everything done on a car is a compromise and it is up to each builder to determine how to best build a car that works for what they intend to do with it. Full length headers are not always best.
If your not concerned with horsepower/torque, than you shouldn't have bought a big block so don't say its not always about horsepower. Just from your description it looks like you have a very low horsepower big block, especially if you were putting manifolds on it so the Shumauchers should be right up your low horsepower alley. If I was concerned with fitment issues, I would have bought a stroked small block. Fits easier and I guarantee its making more than your big block. Any header less than 1 7/8" is for motors under 500hp. If you put smaller headers on a big block that is built for 500+ hp then your losing a lot of power. If your ok with that, then fine. I just dont get why people go through all the work in building a motor for X amount of power and then put parts on that choke it up.
