1971 Duster 340 - 727 to 4spd swap > EVERYTHING NEEDED (New England)

It IS a BIG job. I did it to my 69 340 Barracuda about 20 years ago. I was lucky. I found a RUSTY 69 Barracuda Fastback car with a running 340, 3.55 geared 8 3/4 rear end with Sure Grip, 4 Speed, console and stainless trim around the pedals for $3200. I kept all the four speed stuff, sold the running 340, sold my 727 with floor shift and console, and then parted out the rest of the car. Even after paying to have the shifter rebuilt by Brewers, buying a new clutch, buying a new flywheel, having the shifter handle and console top plate chrome plated, buying a 4 speed rebuild kit (I rebuilt it myself) and buying many new pieces like new pedal bushings, shifter boots etc, I made money on my swap. I made out like a bandit parting that car out. OK Granted you won't find a running 340 4 speed car for $3200 today, but the idea is the same. Let's say you found a rusty 4 speed car for $12,000. By the time you sold the transmission and floor shift and console from your car and parted out the rest of the parts car you could be into your swap for a reasonable amount. As far as that goes, call Brewers and see what they have to say. Their conversion less the cost of selling your parts may not be all that bad. But you still have a BIG job ahead of you. In fact, if you cannot do all the work yourself, if will cost a LOT any way you go.
