Do you have a battery? My friend says his was over $20k (Tesla) and has a lifespan of around 10 years. Its nice to have free power when its cloudy or dark assuming the panels generate enough to charge them :)

I do not have a battery back up. I have a generator with an outlet hard wired from the outside of my house to the breaker box. You MUST switch off the main breaker, slide a safety bar up and then flip the generator breaker on. So I use the solar all day and the grid all night. I don't think the batterys to power a house are clean, efficient manner of storing energy at this point.
