1965 Dodge Dart Charger (?)

So I got it fired, but didn’t have alternator, pulleys, etc. bolted up.

Hate to remind you, but I’ve never done this before—I get everything on. It’s looking good. Attach the alternator bracket. Tighten everything down. Fill up the radiator with water. Starts losing water underneath the alternator. Can’t figure what in the world is going on. All the bad scenarios are going through my head. Then it clicked.

I tightened the belt before tightening the brackets. The tension was keeping the pump from sealing. Went back through, but changed my sequence… no leaking.

Next: I couldn’t get it to idle. Would fire off immediately, but no idle. My father in law stopped by on a Saturday morning. Wanted to hear it fire. He got it where it needed to be. Idled for a good 15 minutes. Stayed cool and sounded pretty happy.

Next: my existing clutch linkage had been cobbled together. After a couple order, I SHOULD be in good shape. New z bar and clutch fork from Brewers. Need to finish putting that all together.

I think my punch list is down to:
- Clutch linkage
- Driveshaft fabricated to go from flange output a-833 to 8 1/4 rear.
- Exhaust

And I’m sure more will show up along the way! I don’t give consistent updates here, but it’s mostly because I’m finding all the answers on FABO before I have to ask.
