8.75 out of 74 Truck

Well, I went and pulled an axle out of the 68 truck 8 3/4 I plan on putting in my 88 D100. Then I dug out one of the axles with the great big bolt pattern and they are the exact same length and splines. I bolted the larger bolt pattern axle into the housing and it fit perfect. Just for the Halibut, I measured the bolt pattern and then measured it on my 88 D100. They are exactly the same. Straight bolt in using my brakes from the existing 9 1/4 in the D100. I may have to drill the bottom hole in the backing plates on the 88 brakes, but other than that….it’s turnin bolts and relining brakes.

I will say that I am not sure they are 74 model axles. I do, however distinctly remember that my cousins 74 Power Wagon that was a long bed 4 x 4, 318 truck had the great big bolt pattern. It also had an 8 3/4 front differential too! 3.91 gears in both with a SG rear.
