Sorry this is a long post, so bear with me.

I am told I have to get rid of one of my vehicles, as I have lost my storage for one of them, and now have too many at my house.

I need some input on this issue, as its a tough decision for me.

I have whittled the choice between two vehicles (out of five I have).

Cars at my house:
69 Roadrunner - Project(not getting rid of).
74 Duster (not getting rid of)
67 El Camino (my first car, still a project, and not put-together enough to even think about getting rid of).
76 Chrysler Newport - Bought this car for $100 cash. Its a boat!
2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse - My current 4-cylinder Daily Driver.

The two cars I would even consider getting rid-of are the Eclipse and the Newport. One of them will have to be my daily-driver (about 20 mile commute each way each day). I do drive my duster at least one day a week, so I will balance my driving between the duster and another vehicle.

The pluses and minuses I have been able to figure out so far:

Newport:
+Easy to work on and tune up!
+Very comfortable, power-seats, tilt and telescope steering, cruise-control
+400cui of Mopar Big block torque
+Boils one tire with ease (Smoke show!)
+It floats down the road (smooth ride).
+No car payment, and pretty cheap insurance.
-Sucks the gas big time.
-takes a city block to park, and doesnt fit in compact spaces.
-Four doors, doesn't attract the ladies. It looks like grandpa's car.
-Needs to be smogged before I can get it tagged.

Eclipse:
+Good on gas (4cyl) and small.
+Good Stereo.
-Still have a little more to pay off , but very little.
-Insurance is high (they consider it a "sports car")
-I know very little about working on it beyond changing the oil.

More Information:
I bought the newport with the plan to eventually yank the 400 engine and 727 tranny to rebuild to eventually go in the Duster. But the 360 in my duster runs so freakin awesome, and the car handles great right now, I dont think I need to upgrade any time soon. I did replace the old dried-out valve seals on the newport 400, and put a new carb on it. It runs really good now. The Newport also has a little over 60,000 original miles since it was new, so it would really be a shame to junk a car with mint interior and very presentable paint for the powerplant it holds.

So what do you guys think, get rid of the Eclipse or the Newport?
I can post pic's if anyone wants. Thanks for reading my post.

Hard choice........... and I just had to make it and sold both of my Darts.

If it were me I would sell them both and use the money to make the Duster a solid daily driver.

I love mine and have been driving the legs off of it even though it still needs paint bad. Here is why:

1. It is paid for
2. It is cheap to fix
3. I can fix it myself and don't have to pay $100 to find out what is wrong with it.
4. My insurance is only $29.95 a month

Sure, it uses a little gas (13.4mpg mixed driving) but I am saving a fortune on insurance, maintenance, and no car payment.

That's just the money reasons. It doesn't include the fun factor, the "thumbs ups" I get on the freeway from other people, or the smile on my face when I am driving it.

It is also kind of nice to to simplify my life a little and not have all those project hanging over my head.:toothy2:

I think you should get rid of the RR just drop it off at my house! :D

What are the specs. of the RR? My brother has a 69 to, F6 green, white interior,383 4-speed.

I'd have to let the Newport go and pay off the Eclipse.

No brainer, pirate the Newport for everything it's worth and let them tow the wreck away. Sell wahts good from it and make a modest profet to roll over into the other project(s).

Sell the newport ,el camino and eclipse and buy yourself a pickup for daily driving and hauling parts for your mopars with

Sell your house , move to the country with a big yard, and buy more cars.....Problem solved....

Dang, I knew you guys would have the answer!

All good advice, and exactly what I needed.Maybe in the next year or so I could move to the country, and then have all the cars I want. But I think I am going to do something similar to what 340-Dart advised for now, so I can focus on the important Mopar projects I have. I am going to make the Duster my Daily Driver, since I have replaced or fixed almost everything on it (except for paint) its pretty much almost there. Plus its the most fun of all of them to drive (I haven't driven my RR yet). I will sell the Newport to a friend I know who needs it, and will put it to good use. Insurance is dirt-cheap for the duster, as it was a 318-car new (now 360). So this makes the most sense.

Thank You all for your input.

It'll be a couple months before I start on it. But I have already got a 440 rebuilt and almost ready for it. Working on it, is pretty much the only thing I can think about anymore.

Whoops.

There's a little pic of mine. I got a vacation coming up soon, so hopefully she looks totally different next month.

Good luck with yours. How about pics of it?

Doesn't look bad at all!
If that had been a Pa. car sitting like that it would have been rotted to the ground!

The 76 Newport could be sold for derby car. They make awesome derby cars. Yes they are big! I have a 75 Newport 4 door with a 360.
