NHL Playoffs 2023

College is a different story. You know it's badass when State colleges can compete. MN State (Mankato) Bemidji, St. Cloud, (probably shouldn't have gone down this road. Too many that deserves recognition.) Let alone UMD and UMN.
Funny thing about that, so I had just moved there from West Coast. I sign up for rec league and they put me In third league down from top. I am thinking WTF? Director says you dominate we will move you up, I figure fair enough. First game of season, sitting on the wood in the locker room, brand new Team, everybody is taping up and looking at each other wondering what kind of Team we will have. Trying to figure out who has beer in their bag. I notice I am easily twenty years older than my line mates. And clearly the only one with any semblance of body fat. I am thinking to myself rut ro. I listen to the chatter as they all know each other. They are all Div 1 A college kids on break playing rec league hockey. We hit the ice and by the second rush my hands are on my knees I cannot get any air and I am far enough behind the play it comes back my way before I can even get to the bench to die. Holy smokes can they play. There is something like thirty indoor rinks in town and countless out door ones. Just the overall quality level of general hockey is nuts. The leagues above us were mostly comprised of X NHL guys who are in the area as coaches. When the Penguins won the Cup a time or two here a few years ago the Cup always came to town, it was a madhouse at the rink. Sorry I got long winded but folks got no idea of the level of hockey there. It is phenomenal.
