Valve Spring Question: Coil Bind Versus Spring Quality

I’m at .190 coil bind clearance and have been for a very long time. .557 max lift, solid flat tappet shifting at 6400-6500 stripe 6800. PAC hot rod springs 135 lbs at 1.80 and 340 lbs at .557. Just changed the springs to the exact same ones because they were 10 years old. There was no real pocket wear and it pulls 6800ish so I don’t think they are surging, but to you question I would go the better spring as long as the pressures are appropriate. A dropped valve is SO catastrophic.
Furrystump,

I was just looking at the PAC catalog yesterday and found a few of those HR springs in the range that you show. Do you mind giving me the PAC number that you used?

My only concern was what you mentioned, about the larger coil bind clearance. I would like to use the ISKY or the PAC’s but they both give me a lot of coil bind clearance (.120”-.180”) at my lifts. There are a few of the Comp springs that would work, but I would rather purchase one of the above brands for this rebuild.

Thanks!
