Briggs and Stratton 5HP motor

LOL reminds me of a story from the old Navy days. We had a pair of so called QUAD RADAR, AN/FPN-36. They did not have the standardized military maintenance manuals, nor the PM cards (periodic or preventive maintenance) and a local San Diego co. had been hired to create them. One thing was the gearbox on the top mount. It had a drain, a fill, and a level/ sight plug. The manual said to drain it, refill with type *** lubricant until the oil was at the opening of the sight plug

So we had to go out on the field and with BOTH RADAR, drain and refill the gearboxes several times and measure the thing several times for an average. I bet we were screwing around out there for a couple of hours.

So when the prototype print for the new manuals and PM cards came out, everybody had to look up whatever they worked on to see what came out.

The "new" instructions said to drain the box, and refill with *** oz of type *** lubricant, and then continued "then continue to add lubricant until even with bottom of sight plug!!!!"
