Fell out of the attic and broke my foot

Surgery complete, now on the 8-week-long road to recovery. The surgeon fused my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd metatarsals to their respective cuneiform bones using a bone graft from my heel. That means no plates, screws, or hardware. He said the stem cells from the bone graft will grow between the bones to be fused and harden, so that’s how they do it. Pretty neat stuff.

He gave me some nutritional tips to help the bone grow and heal, and I was very disappointed to see that beer and pizza weren’t on the list. I think he just forgot to mention them.

They did a nerve block, so I can’t feel a darn thing from the knee down; it’s like it’s someone else’s leg. I’m not looking forward to the pain when the nerve block wears off…
