Ok guys, I have this cool , I think Mopar dual snorkel air cleaner, don't know what its off of ...

I had an original 71 383 Road Runner in 1981. It did not have that breather vent nipple on the left side snorkle. I'm thinking it's from a Police engine, 71 or later though?
If I have interpreted correctly, I believe that the 71 cleaner (one year only)with the nipple was a 1 yr experiment in forced crankcase ventilation.

Maybe Mopar's attempt to prepare to meet the 72 upcoming government emissions requirements.

A hose attaches to the nipple and goes through loops on the side of the filter
To the back of the filter, then goes over to the valve cover and attaches to the valve cover via a "breather".
There is no breathing here, it is a specially designed device to capture random oil. (See pic)

What I'm not understanding, is that 1 pcv valve was supposed to capture all the crankcase fumes ??
