My 1972 F7 Dart Swinger

Would you be willing to give details on your color sanding/buffing process, brands, materials, etc.?

I just completed my first paint job ever and I have never sanded and buffed paint. I need to buy the equipment and materials.

Thanks & sorry for the hijack on the thread.

Your paint job looks pretty good from here. Great color choice! Do you have much dirt or orange peel? You'll have to sand those areas out with 1500 then step up to 2000 then 3000. It's more expensive but don't cut corners on paper brand. We used 3M 6" discs. Once that's all sorted (or of you don't need to sand) We used 3D car care products for the 3 step cut and polish.

ACA 510 Premium Rubbing Compound - Step 1 (use this to get rid of your sand scratches)

ONE - Step 2 (use this to get rid off any swirls or step 1 scratches)

AAT 505 Correction Glaze - Step 3 (use this one for any haze removal and final polish)

I also bought their microfiber towels and a gallon of their detailer spray to clean the panels before starting and between steps. I used a mixture of a rotary polisher (for the big, flat areas) and a DA and hand pads (on the more sensitive areas like edges and body lines) and Hex Logic line of foam pads for the different steps. Lots of good info we got from this YT video
