Hard to find…

I’m fine with 215 or even 205. What surprised me was the SS cragar have a max backspace of 4.1. They seem to be very popular on these abodies so I figured finding them in 4.25 or 4.5 would be no problem. I think once I correct the ball joints the 4.1 will be ok. I did measure lots of times. I used this formula I - [(I+O -W -1)\2] where I and O are the distance from the mounting surface to the first obstruction. W is rim width.

With a 205 they'd clear fine, and yeah a 215 would probably be ok for most cars.

I don't think it's all that surprising, a lot of the 15" rims also fit vintage Fords and they don't need as much backspace. And the cars that run Cragars usually aren't the ones looking to fit really wide front tires, so a 15x7" with 4.1" of backspace would sell fine. It's not easy to find any rims in a 15x7 with 4.5" of backspace, 4.25" is about the best you do most of the time.
