The “glass” technology has improved so dramatically since most of us were kids that it is not even fair anymore to compare my old redfields and bushnells with anything modern regardless of price point. The medium glass of today is light years ahead of sixties glass. And yes I grew up in the sixties! And do we want to talk about the unsung, below the radar, tack driving Savage 110s or what! I have literally never heard of or seen one that is not a tack driver. 110s are one of the best kept secrets in the industry!
I have 60-70 year-old German scopes, that are much crisper than the current Asian and U.S. offerings. One good deal I've found over the years, is Steiner. I've gotten some smokin' deals on their optics. German parts, that were assembled in the Carolinas.
