Hood hinge rebuild
There is a ton of slop in my hood hinges so I'm going to take a shot at fixing/modifying the pivot pin. The plan is to use a door hinge pin in the small hole and to drill out the big end of the rivet to accept it then weld it up (I'm hoping it it weldable). What I am wondering is how tight to make them as too tight might be a problem. I was thinking of using a temp shim before welding the rivet back up to give it some clearance....not sure what size yet. Anybody done something like this?
ps I looked at 4 other sets of used hinges and they were all sloppy. I wonder what new ones are like.
