YOU MUST jumper IGN1 and IGN2 at the ignition switch together, either under the hood or at the ign switch. The junction of those two feeds the small red of your MSD
This is because IGN1 is ONLY hot out of the switch in the "run" position, and provides power to the cluster, VR, and ignition system. IGN1 GOES DEAD when you twist the key to start. The ONLY power to ignition system during cranking is the IGN2 terminal from the ign switch, which feeds the coil + (originally) during cranking
