Indy360-1 cylinder head on LA intake manifold

Your intake ports can be smaller than your head intake ports and that's not going to be an issue if you can get the roof of the intake port to match the head port that would be good, but

absolutely not necessary. It will just create more air speed if the intake is smaller than the head. DO NOT cut the floor of intake port out trying to match the head.
