Rev difference between a standard weight and lightweight flywheel
Especially with say a 340, a 2.47 low trans and 3.23s, for a starter gear of 7.98.. That box has nice splits, that's for sure, but getting off the line with the factory flywheel was never something I enjoyed.
Believe it or not, I traded my 2.47box away for a 3.09 overdrive; straight up.
But I gotta admit, that when dropping down into first at 35mph; it's a blast seeing 3500 on the tach; that gear would get me 60mph @6000 or so......... so there's always that to think about.
But I've never had a 440, I mean that's almost a third more cubes, and a lotta spinning mass inside it.
If I already had the lighter flywheel, I guess I'd try it. Well; 25 years ago I wouldda, lol.
