trying to degree my cam

What is the WHOLE engine combo. Lots of details are missing. You're much more likely to get input if you lay out everything. Keep in mind that the cam will retard as the chain wears in and stretches.
383 new build CL21-224-4 cam
supposed to be 106 intake centerline

I get 108 with the timing chain straight up.
I switched to the triangle and it was coming out as 100 degrees.
melling says its 4 degrees each slot, seems more like 8

After I chaged it to the triangle, I found tdc again and checked at 50+ and 50- and was getting 144 + 56
At straight up I was getting 152 + 64
am I missing something?

Should I have left the sprocket on O and just align the cam gear dot to the triangle?
that seems to make sense.
It sucks melling doesnt have manuals online that are easy to find
