Master Cyl Push Rod Removal

I was in the wrecking yard and there was a drum drum master cyl and pushrod just sitting in a 67 Barracuda.

Ok pushrods are good, I'll take it.

So first I pulled and pulled and pulled, nothing, not going to happen.

Next I tried putting a screwdriver through the pedal end in the receiver of a trailer hitch and used the master cyl as a slide hammer, nothing, not going to happen.

Then the light bulb went off over my head....

I took a 10 inch length of brake line and put it 1/2 way through the brake pedal end and looped it back. Then I chucked both ends into my cordless drill and spin it up and pulled up on the drill (master was on the ground)

BAM... 5 seconds later it was out.

Spinning created friction and that heated up the rubber keeper.

NOW.... The piston was frozen into the master and I suspect if it wasn't it would have spun the piston and maybe damaged the cyl bore and piston. Use this procedure with caution.
