Question about speedo cable on a 1973 Dart.
Just unclipped mine to clean and reinstall. Here’s a photo of it connected.
I had the other end of the speedo cable unscrewed already as I’m replacing the rear bushing on the tail housing. I did have a sound coming from the speedometer so figured with the one end disconnected I might as well unplug the top end too. Removed the cable and grommet from the firewall hole and then pulled the cable out. It was in great shape (not fraying anywhere on it) so used some brake cleaner on it. Also used some brake on the empty sheath and used compressed air to ensure it was dry before starting to put the cable back in. Used graphite in the empty sheath and also coated the cable as I was feeding it into the sheath.
Will know for sure in a day or two if I solved the speedo noise once the tailhousing project is completed.
