I don’t disagree with your comments. My first and most important criteria is a good or great shop. I do believe, however that there are nuances specific to each manufacturer and if they’re working on my engine I prefer the shop to be knowledgeable to not only do the basic work but to offer suggestions or helpful recommendations to ensure an optimal result.
