Will a beefed up '78 lil red express express engine tear up a stock 727 torqueflight?
Howdy,
I have a bored .30 over 360 engine from a '78 red express. It was previously used in a hot rod D100 and has 2.02 and 1.66 valves and should make about 350 horsepower. I'm finishing freshening it up now and planning on putting it into a Dodge W250 with the 727 trans. I would like to keep the 727 trans I have and stay in budget but I know the original '78 model had a modified 727 that was more similar to a 440 BB trans. Hoping some of the good folks in here have experience with high horsepower/torque demand on a 727 torqueflite. I've heard they're fairly hearty and can handle 400+ horsepower but am still skeptical that it will hold up. Thanks for any advice in advance.
