The topless adventures of Cuda Al
Day 4: Baker City Oregon – Astoria Oregon
Day started off a little off, when I got on the highway I saw smoke coming out the right side so I pulled off to investigate. Oil was fine (just checked it at the hotel), good oil pressure, no notable sounds which was a little hard to notice as the right side exhaust flange has a notable leak. I move on.
Sometime later I stop for gas and when I got off the highway the exhaust leak sounded like open headers. I get my flashlight out and start looking around notice one of the flange bolts was coming out (lost its nut). I go get lunch and start planning my action. Located an Exhaust shop but they were closed, headed to an O’Reilly get a gasket and some nuts and bolts, I get setup and figured I better get some jack stands (was planning on shoving the spare under the car), got it all together and hit the road. The fix and chasing parts took about two hours.
I had already replaced the gasket once, I suspect the pipe isn’t square to the manifold not allowing it to tighten properly, will address when I get back.
This trip was primarily about visiting family for an event, In a couple months I'll have all the time in the world for doing more.
Not sure when the return trip will be, probably a couple weeks.
