brake lights not working

As said above, check brake light switch. Brake lights are on a different fuse than turn signals, as I recall, so check your fuses.

The brake lights go through the turn signal switch, so step on the brakes and have an observer watch the lights while you wiggle the t/s switch. If they come on you have a bad t/s switch. If you have to replace it, buy the whole switch, not the cam. Cam is only good for broken off return tabs in my opinion.
Mike- you just solved my problem! Several years ago the dome light on my '71 Newport quit working. I never drive it at night so I just never got around to replacing the bulb. I forgot about it. Several months ago I noticed my brake lights quit working. So, I replaced the stoplight switch- very long and unpleasant job. Still not working. It was demoralizing and I was dreading doing a troubleshoot. Then I saw this post of yours and thought "hmmmmm- never did check the fuse". In my 40 years of tinkering with Mopars I've never had a fuse burn out. So.....I checked the service manual and, unbelievably- the dome light and brake lights are on the same fuse! Popped that sucker out and sure enough- it was blown. Two problems solved in 30 seconds. Thanks man.
