1982. Just painted it. A gallon of Ditzler acrylic lacquer was about $33, if I recall.
Bought that car when I was 18, drove it every day for ten years. Damn thing never failed to start.
Still have it. Found the build sheet a few years ago. It's an original LS-6 car (I never had that engine in it). Guess I shouldn't have installed power steering and thrown out that old manual box, or cut the firewall to install A/C, or put a pair of Pontiac buckets in in place of the bench seat. Or left the original radiator, which leaked like a sieve, in a garage in an old house.
But it was just a car then, y'know?
Still the best $550 I ever spent.
And, yeah, I'm that old guy who's "gonna restore it one day."
Of course there were others, but this is the only one where I have a photo handy.
