Members asking about my 340

true statement. have to get the car off the line quickly.

i have 4.86 gear in the car now which works awesome. i did try a 4.30 gear for a weekend to see the difference and it was not good. hurt the 60' and naturally the same with ET and MPH. i don't remember the #'s but it was enough for me to switch back to the 4.86 gear.
How tall are your rear tires? Years back a buddy and I decided to play with his 72 Demon 318. Threw on and in a bunch of left over parts and a 4.10 gear and the thing rewarded us with a mid/low 14. The car was bad dead out of the hole and kinda figured the 480 lift (unknown duration etc) Wolverine cam was retarded since Gary just lined up the dots even though I told him I had a degree wheel etc. The exhaust note was pretty loud and that can be another indicator.

The car kicked pretty hard once it hit 3k rpm all the way to 6200 but was crossing the stripe around 5300. All I had was a 4.88 so that got plugged in and ran a 13.75 iirc on a pair of M/T ET Streets but was spinning them when shifted into 2nd. Do recall how tall they were but it was @6200 before the stripe. Just so happens I had a pair of 9x29 slicks. That did the trick to the tune of 13.51 @102 with a.......2.2 60'. The thing didn't have enough low end to do a burnout unless it was in oil. People were asking why it had slicks on it lol. What the car needed next was for the stock converter to get swapped out but after making about 15 passes, the 100k+ miles trans was showing signs of death.

As far as I know, 15 or so years, the rust free and original paint Demon is still sitting in his garage being ignored.
