The concern was that the hold down for the shaft doesn't seem to center itself on the hardware, effecting the shim pack when installed. Your correct that the shaft itself is a non issue. A set of PRW rocker shaft hold downs didn't have the .400" hole for 5/16 hardware and cleared up the side to side play consistently.
