Installing door jamb switches
Figure how many turns the switch needs to be installed. Twist the switch and wire that many turns the opposite direction.
By the way the center pin (red or yellow) of the push switch should spin freely in the switch so you can what dadsbee said, hold the plunger with a plyer and then tighten the switch body into the piller.
Also the switches are self adjusting. After install you shut the door and the sleeve (green) presses into the threaded section to make the switch just the right length.
Use some tape to protect your paint.
