Can my slant six 3 on the tree be used with 318

Just so you know, that slanty A230 is a Wide-ratio trans. IIRC
3.08-1.70-1.00, splits of .55/.59, which are pretty wide. the 318-A230 was
2.55-1.49-1.00, splits of .58/.67, which is a shorter 2-3..
