I have a Mystery here for all of you. Automotive Sleuths. This car is like a time capsule, everywhere I look. I got the left side drum off after it soaked for a while. Look what I found inside the drum when it came off? There's a nut laying in there. I immediately assumed that it was one of the nuts for the axle retainer, but they were all in place. Next thing I noticed was how the nut I found was all rounded off around the edges. The Lord only knows how long that has been in that drum rattling around. So then I took a look at the wheel cylinders. They are original Mopars. I can't see a number on the brake shoes yet. I'm beginning to wonder if that nut was left behind during assembly? Probably not an overreach to think so.
