70 Dart Twin Hood Scoop Question

As A ram air system they are non functional as there is no duct from the scoop to the air cleaner as a hole in the hood, yes they are functional. But you could just bolt them to a flat hood and do the same thing but id be concerned about air pressure ripping the scoops off with no hole in the hood . In short they are for looks on the a body. Remember the 69 Dart had hood bulges no openings. I m just saying they serve no purpose for performance. But thats just my $.02
I disagree, they had a purpose. It allowed cool air into the engine department just above the air cleaner intake (2 openings). It was not a "Ram Air" set up. Not sure if it made much of a difference from the 68-69 to the 70 in performance, being a small block, which ran a little cooler than the RB blocks anyway. Bigger motor, more heat to cool. I'm sure it hindered the 69 440 in the Darts and with the 68' Hemi, most used aftermarket hood scoops. Getting back to the 70' hood, nice photos of the setup, but I could never understand why the black rubber inserts on the hood, I would think they would restrict air flow.
