Finally got the 'light gap" above the garage door (and motor) figured out.

It slides on hooks, so I can move or remove it as needed. Also height adjustable for when the hood is back on

the neighbor has a LED string light on the garage door. when it is about 90% open, it lights up. contacts on the side somewhere. he's an electrician, that stuff is over my head.
