How perfect should new pinion/diff bearings be?

I've got a couple of new Koyo pinion bearings with funny marks on them. Last time I did Timkens and they didn't have these marks. The Timkens had black residue and the Koyo has black oil, so I'm guessing that's normal-ish. The mark on the roller above my pinky catches a fingernail and doesn't rub off.
