318 upgrades

What I find funny about this 318 vs 360, Everyone would be for a stock 2bbl 360 or even 4 bbl with duals and a good tune. Even 4bbl 360 with stock cam and low cr, people would still say a ok performer and be torquey (330-380 lbs-ft) for what it is.

Now a warmed over 318, mild cam, 4 bbl, headers and tune would make similar torque at similar rpms aka similar overall power. But for some reason it said gonna be a turd, under power no torque. A decently built 318 can make 400+ lbs-ft the same torque as a mild 360, but somehow when a 360 makes 330-400 lbs-ft it's torquey but when it's a 318 it ain't.

And yes I know a similar built 360 than a 318 will make more torque, (but that's what gears are for lol)
So why did Chrysler Marine Division build so many 318s for boats(& Industrial & Amplex Division for gen sets etc)?
Anyone have a clue?
I won't make you guess; its because marine engines need Torque. You are constantly Pushing thru water or drag on hull at speed. All applications require TORQUE.
And guess what, Marine applications run single plane intakes like a 273 4bbl. So right there is another anomaly that everyone says doesn't work.
Doesn't anyone do off label research just to learn anymore? Just for learnings sake?
